WHY IT BEGAN
ZEN ARMOR began with a question.
What if time could be worn again?
Across Japan, countless kimono remain unworn -
silk that once carried ceremony, memory, and craft.
We saw not waste,
but architecture waiting to be reconstructed.
ZEN ARMORは、
「時間をもう一度まとうことではないか」
という問いから始まりました。
行き場を失った着物。
そこにあるのは、無駄ではなく、
再構築を待つ構造でした。
WHY WE CREATE
We reconstruct vintage kimono
into contemporary long gilets.
Each piece is entirely unique -
shaped by the original fabric,
its history, and its structure.
The straight-line architecture of kimono
allows the meterial to return,
and begin again.
私たちは、ヴィンテージ着物を
現代のロングジレへと再構築します。
一枚一枚が一点物。
布の歴史と構造が、新しいかたちを生み出します。
着物の直線裁ちの建築的構造は、
素材がもう一度はじまることを可能にします。

Founder, ATONA WORKS
Working in the accounting department of a traditional kimono house,
Nao witnessed the quiet acumulation of unworn garments -
beauty without destination.
Moved by the sense of mottainai,
she began to ask:
What if time could be worn again?
ZEN ARMOR was born from the desire
to transform what seemed unused into something enduring.
ATONA WORKS is rooted in Tokyo, Japan.
Cultural reconstruction and sustainable design
form the core of our practice.
呉服屋の経理として働く中で、
行き場を失った美しい着物を数多く目にしてきました。
そこにあったのは、
無駄ではなく、
まだ役割を終えていない時間。
「この時間を、もう一度まとうことはできないか」
その問いから、ZEN ARMORは始まりました。
ATONA WORKS は東京を拠点に、
文化再構築とサステナブルデザインを実践しています。
Long-Term Vision
ATONA WORKS restores dignity
to kimono once awaiting ritual farewell,
reconstructing them as contemporary luxury.
In the long term, we are building toward the creation of our own Old Dog Sanctuary —
a place where senior dogs can live in peace.
A cycle that honors both objects and life.
